Suffolk Domestic Violence Court

The Suffolk County Domestic Violence Courts are located at the Cohalen Court Complex located in Central Islip and the Suffolk County Court located in Riverhead. The Domestic Violence Court involves a dedicated judge, specially trained staff, resource coordination, and on-site victim advocacy. Domestic violence cases are unique and prosecuted differently than non-domestic violence cases. They generally take longer to resolve than non-domestic violence cases. Defendants charge with domestic violence charges are often required to obtain an evaluation, and receive counseling if deemed appropriate, before obtaining a favorable pre-trial resolution.
